Painting the Town Red......

How many times have you travelled on an Indian road... and seen people spitting out??? It could be from anywhere, a speeding bus, a train, a two wheeler, or it could very well be a pedestrian.....

Well, as a regular on the roads, I find it as the most disgusting things a person can come across. look at any corner (a staircase, a building, a building lift, etc), and you'll see the red sprayed all over it.... thats nothing but our very own substitute of a chewing gum.... THE GUTKHA & THE TAMBAAKU (tobacco).....

In certain states the no. of people addicted to them is so high that when you walk on the roads, you literally need to dodge the freshly spat ones.... it's impossible to lean against any wall, because you can see the freshly made marks.... Even in some upmarket malls, you'll see the marks next to the bins or the elevators. How disgusting can it get????

Inspite of the gutkha ban and the numerous awareness programmes stating the ill-effects of the product, people just cannot get over this habit.... Suprisingly, I have seen people in a doctor's clinic chewing on the gutkha / tobacco and staring at pictures describing how these products can affect a person's gum to the extent that it creates a hole on the cheeks.... It's almost like indulging in self-torture

It's really saddening to even see small kids addicted to gutkha / tambaaku..... I listen people talking about not smoking or drinking, but this seems worse... I guess we as citizens need to start spreading awareness ourselves.... from a basic level, like talking about it to our maid servants (sadly but true that even some of these ladies chew on them), watchman, or mechanics ....

  2. It is a realistic one. Why don't you create your own microsite on hrinflux.com and write as much as you can and also get a personalised microsite link with your name. I think you are a realistic writer and hrinflux.com is the place for you.

  3. It is an excellent blog which you had come up with.It seems to be a very general topic but this is spreading like an epidemic disease among people. There is a great writer within you, give him an opportunity to grow.

You can also upload this as an article on Hrinflux since many people visit this site and creates awareness among them.

Come up with few more good blogs...............all the very best.

  4. In our country, more than lack of education, lack of civic sense & hygeine is glaringly obvious...just the other day, as I was waiting at the traffic signal for the light to turn green, a man from the rear seat of a Toyota Innova, stuck his head out and spat out a mouthful of red liquid. Instinctively I turned and removed my sunglasses (to ensure he sees the expression of disgust) and glared at him. The shameless and unrepentant ba....d, thought it was fun to have a lady glare at him, and responded to my glare with a grin...Disgusting, repulsive.
If the rich and affluent (if not educated) can display such lack of civic sense, what can we expected from the millions who grow up and live their whole life in squalor?
    Keep writing....

  5. Well said and the reality bites in true sense. This habit that has made rich and poor, educated and uneducated equally addicted needs to be eradicated at the root.

  6. Walls of many State Govt offices are sprayed red by Guthkas and chewed Betel leaves. They try to save the annual whitewash and the red spittings are generously contributed.
